Brenda Tananbaum has added another feather to her cap at the CHJA Finals.
As a previous winner of the CHJA 3' Adult Medal Final, she earned her way into the CHJA 3'3" Master's Medal Final and was the winner again Saturday at the Fairfield August Horse Show.
Her winning partner was Novello, an 18-year-old Westphalian gelding affectionately called 'Captain.' Samantha Stepanik was second aboard Hederiggy, with Katie Christiansen and Jericho third.
"Captain and I have been together probably a year and a half now, and he is probably one of the most special horses I've ever ridden," Tananbaum said. "He loves the big stage. He just knows it's his day."
A Southport, CT, resident, Tananbaum is one of the Fairfield County Hunt Club's longest-tenured riders, having trained with Jenny Martin-Rudaz for nearly four decades. She earned her way into the Master's Medal Final with a previous victory in the CHJA 3' Adult Medal Final in 2014.
"I've been doing these finals probably since 1987," she shared. "I took a couple years off in between when I won the Adult Medal, and I didn't have a horse to do the Master's. So winning it as an adult and then winning here in the Master's is just so special—and doing it here at Fairfield is just even more special."
