Just days before the Christmas holiday, a longtime mantra in the sport of show jumping was on full display at the Jim Brandon Equestrian Center: There are no days off when it comes to working with horses.
M&R Equestrian Services' Training Days hosted the seventh week of its 2020-2021 season Tuesday, Dec. 22, and the venue was once again brimming with trailers as riders shipped in to ride over courses at heights from 1.0m to 1.40m.
Founded by Olympians Alberto Michan (ISR) and Juan Andrés Rodriguez (GUA), Training Days are Wellington, FL's most unique training opportunity, offering riders of all levels an unprecedented opportunity to school over a full course of show quality jumps, set by FEI course designers. Each Tuesday, exhibitors can complete a course of show jumps at varying heights, experiencing a stress-free and affordable show-like atmosphere. As the new year nears, Monday night events will also be on offer, as well as the opportunity to train over hunter jumps.
Combinations were a focal point of Rodolfo Godoy's Week 7 track, which featured, among other tests, a triple bar-to-vertical double down the last line of the course. The final fence, a Peruvian themed oxer, gave riders the unique opportunity to jump a fence from the 2019 Pan American Games course in Lima, held last August.
With more than 15 weeks remaining in its second season, the Training Days program is just hitting its best stride.
