At the 2021 Back in the Saddle Conference in Irving, TX, Catie Staszak Media CEO Catie Staszak received the inaugural Equine Media NextGen Award from the American Horse Publications (AHP). A non-profit professional membership association that promotes excellence in equine media, American Horse Publications created the AHP Equine Media NextGen Award to recognize up-and-coming working equine media professionals between the ages of 25 and 35 who have made "a significant impact in advancing equine media while upholding journalistic excellence, integrity, and trust in a competitive communications world."

Staszak was nominated by AHP member and four-time AHP award-winning writer L.A. Sokolowski and received the award at a special awards reception at AHP's annual conference from AHP Executive Direction Chris Brune and AHP President Whitney Allen. "I am so honored to receive the Equine Media NextGen Award from the American Horse Publications," Staszak said. "I have been an AHP member since I was a junior in college, and it is hard to believe the places I have gone in the years since. "I have endless gratitude to Chris Brune, Judy Lincoln and to the AHP community for their enduring support of me," she continued. "My very first internship in high school was with an AHP publication, Sidelines. I have been supported by former AHP presidents Stephanie Church and Jennifer Bryant through their respective Off-Track Thoroughbred and USDF Connection publications, and I am on the editorial team at another AHP publication, The Plaid Horse—the list goes on. "I must thank L.A. Sokolowski for her incredibly kind and meaningful nomination. I love what I do and look forward to continuing my career as a proud AHP member."
