Dalman Jump Co. Partners With TIEC on Brand New Courses

Those entering the Tryon Stadium this summer will find the venue outfitted with a fresh look.
Dalman Jump Co. has partnered with the Tryon International Equestrian Center (TIEC) on two full courses, featuring brand new designs from US Equestrian's Official Jump Company. The courses were delivered in June, with individual jumps making appearances during hunter and jumper competition during the Tryon Summer Series. This has included the USHJA International Hunter Derby and CSI3* Grand Prix.
"We've partnered on a full first round and jump-off course for the Grand Prix ring, as well as a full hunter course with derby elements for the hunter ring," Dalman said. "The jumper course includes all new designs—some from my sketchbook that have never been made and others that are completely new designs, drawn up specifically for this horse show."
The new courses will live in Tryon for nine weeks throughout the summer and fall circuits, including the venue's premier five-star show jumping event in October, part of the Major League Show Jumping circuit.
"There's nothing like seeing your jumps come together and watching how horses and riders respond to them on course," Dalman shared. "With every course we make, we consult with five-star course designers for input, to see what they would like to see on course and the tools they would like to use in their design. As careful as horses are today, we have to give course designers material that can facilitate technicality while still providing a positive experience for the combinations that are jumping."
Get to know the inspiration behind a few of Tryon's newest jump elements below, with more entering the frame this week. All jumps are available for purchase from Dalman Jump Co.—or let these designs inspire your own vision for a custom creation.

Horse Heads
The horse is an easy source of inspiration, but Dalman modeled this jump off of a statuette he saw on display at a designer brand store. "I took a photo of it, and I knew it would end up a jump," Dalman said. "The height of the horse heads make it look as though the horse is jumping the top of the standards." The jump is paired with popular ombre painted poles.

Pillars
Dalman makes a different version of this jump every year, unique due to its three-track design. "Course designers love to play with the depth of this jump," Dalman said. "You can set a vertical or oxer five different ways, create a false front rail, or make a triple bar."

Squares
"Squares" was first sketched by Dalman nearly a decade ago, originally in orange. The 3-D jump arrived at Tryon in medium green. "If you look at the stripes on these rails, each is the same width as the squares. That creates the optical challenge of this jump," Dalman said.

Butterfly
"The Butterfly jump is as old as time, but we wanted to do it differently," Dalman said. This eye-catching fence features hundreds of individual cutouts, making the standards partially see-through. Every butterfly has been hand-painted, and the fence can be paired with either Mafia poles or solid purple poles.

Marigold
"Marigold" makes a statement in the triple combination. "We really went to town with the colors on this jump," Dalman said. "Every flower has multiple shades." The design is based on aluminum frames as a part of Dalman Jump Co.'s "Designer Series," making it equally appropriate for a show course or home use.

Retro
"Retro" was inspired by the art deco design period of American art history. With its repeated geometric pattern and natural coloring, this jump has already been incorporated into both Grand Prix and derby courses in the Stadium. The gate that pairs with this jump follows the shape of the standard through the design.

Gothic Pillars
The design of the Gothic Pillars was inspired by Dalman's visit to the Lund Cathedral—a 12th century Romanesque building that was remodeled with Gothic influence. The arches and pillars resemble the architecture of this building, as does its dark weathered color. "This is a very careful jump," Dalman said, "especially with its see-through plank."

Doily
Doily is the definition of hand-crafted, as it's made of hand-bent plywood. The color was the vision of Sandra Dalman, Javan's wife, who is heavily involved in the jump business in addition to running her own Dalman Show Jumping. "I love what Sandra did with the burgundy and gold accent colors," Javan said. This jump can also be paired with a careful gold plank.

Silver Spoon Saloon (Sponsor Jump)
The Silver Spoon Saloon is the newest destination at TIEC, featuring a bar and game center, fully equipped with sports, entertainment, and virtual reality experiences. Dalman's Silver Spoon Saloon jump features the saloon's logo, along with miniaturized 3-D saloon doors. "This jump really shows off the brand and has a huge presence in the ring," Dalman said. "It looks like you could walk right through those saloon doors and head to the bar."
